Follow Lauren Murphy on her magical
adventures in Cartagena

Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from?

I am born and raised in Dallas and currently reside here with my husband. I studied at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles and began my career as a wardrobe stylist. As much as I loved styling, I began my blog as a space to share my personal style, fashion tips for the everyday woman, and to continue challenging myself outside of work. With zero expectations, it was simply a hobby that has now blossomed into my full-time job.

You’re quite the jetsetter. Where did your sense of wanderlust come from?
Growing up as a family we often traveled and some of my fondest memories are on those trips. Additionally, once I moved to Los Angeles, I realized how important it was to put myself into new environments so that I could learn more about myself and others. Traveling is now a passion that I share with my husband and we love exploring new places, being submerged in new cultures, and meeting great people along the way.

Where are you staying in Cartagena?
We are splitting our time between La Passion Hotel and Casa San Agustin.

Is it your first time in Colombia? What are you most excited for?
Yes, it is! I am most excited to see the culture and eat the food! I have heard such wonderful things about the people, as well as the restaurants and can't wait to experience all of it. Cartagena is known as one of the most colorful cities in the world, so I also look forward to seeing beautiful, flower-filled streets!

What are top 5 essentials you can’t travel without?
Great question! My carryon always includes a phone charger, hydrating moisturizer for the flight, a great read, noise-canceling headphones, and most importantly, my camera.

How would you describe your style? What are some wardrobe staples you always pack for any trip?
My style is colorful, fun, and feminine. I love quality, special pieces that make a statement - which is why I love Caroline Constas so much! As for travel staples, I try to plan my outfits ahead of time but a few pieces I always bring along are a great strapless bra, comfortable walking shoes, an extra layer for chilly nights, a basic white camisole, and an easy, throw-on-and-go dress.

What destination is at the top of your bucket list and why?
The destination at the top my bucket list is Marrakech. It looks absolutely amazing, from the architecture to the vibrant colors everywhere, to the markets and gardens. It appears to be incredibly inspiring and unlike anywhere I have ever been before!
